KAIROS BRIEFING FOR SCOTLAND CORRECTIONAL for the first event in November 2009
The Lord has created a new KAIROS opportunity to share Christ and Christian Life with the inmates at SCI in the Wagram/Laurinburg NC area of Scotland County.
All those who have expressed their interest in hands-on Prison Ministry, come and get to know all about KAIROS and participation in the FIRST Event at Scotland Correctional.
Come on Saturday May 2, 2009 for a 9AM to 12:30 program being held at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, NC (see direction details below). Three short briefings with Q&A will start at 9:00, 9:45 and 11:30.
Short videos showing inmate response to KAIROS, and overview of the weekend events. Additionally Info on volunteer requirements, various ways individuals and congregations can be involved in the ministry on the "outside," through prayer. "PALANCA" & "COOKIES" and direct financial support. Our goal is to provide 42 inmates over a 3 day weekend with insight to participating in a new life-style in their difficult setting. KAIROS programs have been shown to reduce recidivism with those inmates who embrace its concepts
Coffee, Donuts and NC Sweet Tea will be available.
Directions: Located 1/2 mile west of Olmstead Village in Pinehurst (Hwy 5 and 211) at 144 Westgate Drive - directly behind the Red Roof State Farm Insurance building. If coming from the West it is beyond a Hess Gas Station at traffic light, again look for the Red Roof State Farm Building. Westgate is a local name for NC 211. If you reach Olmstead and an Exxon station, on your right, turn around.

St. Paul - Interior changes recommended by Council to Congregation
Interior Changes itemized and recommended to the congregation as follows...
Film on windows and front door: Recommended the purchase of the lighter film as displayed by J. Wake.
Carpet Changes: Carpet in our main area to be green plush - sample is available in the church. A complimentary red color has been selected to compliment the existing rug that is under the altar for the altar and pulpit platforms. Total estimate approximately $5,000. Side rooms and office to remain with existing carpet.
Alter Changes: Eliminate the second level and down-size the raised platform for more flexibility in use and arrangement. Carpentry budget to be determined based on the material costs for removal of current platforms and construction of the new platforms.
Budget: Total budget estimated at approximately $7,000 for all changes. Costs to be supplemented with $1,300 from Thrivent for congregational help to prepare church for changes. Council recommends that the funding for all be taken from the existing reserves, the remaining building account and the Trivent funds available.
