St. Paul and a partnership with Coalition for Human Care

Dear St. Paul members and friends:

I have received numerous telephone calls from poor Moore County families asking to be “adopted” by our congregation this Christmas. I shared this with those in church on Dec. 2. I suggested that instead of choosing a family (or two) that we have a special offering for the Coalition for Human Care in Moore County. It is a wonderful agency in our community which would be able to choose wisely whom to serve this Christmas. There was overwhelming consensus to support the Coalition as our Christmas project.

You may not be aware of the fact that St. James congregation was one of the original 12 churches in our county that began the Coalition in 1986. They also responded this past year with a special contribution of $5,000 for the Coalition’s new building completed this year.

As we reflect on God’s blessings to St. Paul congregation, I hope we can be extra generous for this project!

This is a good (and early) reminder of our Christmas service schedule.

St. James has a Children’s/Family Service at 7:00 PM on Christmas Eve.

St. Paul has a Candlelight Service with Eucharist at 9:30 PM on Christmas Eve. You are again invited to join fellow St. Paul members around 8:00 PM on Christmas Eve in the Ryder Cup Room at the Pinehurst Hotel.

Also please plan to join the St. Paul family for our second Monday potluck on Dec. 10 at 6:00 PM for good food, singing of Christmas carols and tree decoration.

Before the celebration of Christmas, it is wise for us to observe Advent – the season of preparation not only for traditional Christmas, but also for the final advent of our Lord and the closing of the ages. Maranatha!

Together with you in His service – Blessings happen!
